Create an assessment or diagnostic test

Create an assessment or diagnostic test

Tests allow us to evaluate a student's learning and measure their level of knowledge, both before and after taking a course. But not only does it allow us to measure the student, it also helps us to understand if we have been able to transmit our knowledge well.

Taking evaluations is a message of commitment and seriousness from the teacher to the student.

In Foxize Cloud you can find two types of tests:

  • Assessment test: to evaluate the learning of a course. It has the same properties as the course material.

  • Diagnostic test: it's an external test from the course. It is used to evaluate the previous level of the user in an area. This option is available from the Advance plan.

Next, we will explain how to create tests for your training platform.

  1. CREATE THE TEST

To create our tests, we must go to the "Test" section within "Daily management".

In this section, we will find all the tests that we have created, whether they are active or inactive. In this menu, among other things, you can have an overview of each of the tests: the name, type of test, start, and end date and average grade. In addition, you can download the results in an Excel report.

To create a new test you must click the "+Create new test" button. In this new window you will be able to enter the basic information of the test: Name, type of test (assessment or diagnosis), subject of the test, start date and end date. Keep in mind that once the end date has passed, the test will no longer be available to your users. You can modify the end date while the test is still active.

Furthermore, you must put the maximum mark and the cut-off mark to pass. It is important to differentiate between the maximum score and the maximum mark.

  • Maximum score: total sum of the test points. You can leave it blank, and it will update automatically as you add new questions.

  • Maximum mark: maximum final mark that the user will see. It does not have to coincide with the maximum score. For example, our test has a maximum score of 20, but the maximum mark will be 10. Do not worry, the conversion is done automatically.

  • Cut-off mark to pass: this mark must be based on the maximum mark.

You can also enter a title and a description to optimize search engines.

Once the information is ready, you can create the test or create it and assign the sections directly.

  1. ADD A SECTION TO THE TEST

To add questions, we must first create a section. The sections are the different blocks that the test has.

There are 2 types of sections: scoring questions and profile questions sections.

As the name suggests, the scoring questions are made up of knowledge questions, which are scored and will affect the final test mark. There can be as many sections and questions of this type as necessary. If your assessment or diagnostic test is going to contain many questions, we can divide them into several sections by subject, for example.

On the other hand, the profile sections include questions about the user that provide us with relevant information for our database and benchmark. There can only be one profile section in each test and with a maximum of 10 questions. These questions will not have a score, so they will not affect the user's final grade.

  1. ADD QUESTIONS TO THE TEST

Each section is made up of various questions. To add them, we must click on "Actions" and select "+add question".

First, we must write the question and select what kind of answer we want. We can even add a small text to contextualize the question or to explain to the user what actions to take.

There are two types of questions: "drop-down" or "single-choice" (radio) answers.

Once the question is written, we will move on to the second part, writing the answers.

Inside the section you will see the new question created. There you must enter the answers and give them a value.

The "value" is the score for each answer. We recommend that you use these values, although you can use the ones that suit you the best:

  • Correct question: 2

  • Neutral question: 1

  • Wrong question: 0

  1. ACTIVATE THE TEST

Once you have completed all the questions and sections, you will be able to activate your test so that your students can take it, you just have to click on the "Activate test" button.

In the event that yours is a diagnostic test, it will automatically appear in the diagnostic section. But if your test is an assessment, you must link it to a course. To do this, access the materials' section of your course edition and select the test.

From your backoffice, you will be able to access the general data of the test and the answers of each user and the general average marks and by sections.

If you have any questions, you can contact us through the "Help" tab in your platform or by writing us an email to: soporte@foxizecloud.com
