Text Editor (blog, course sheet, text material)

Text Editor (blog, course sheet, text material)

In some of the Foxize Cloud functionalities (Text material, Blog, Course sheet...) you will find a text editor to customize your content. Below, we explain what each of them does.

1. HTML source

HTML is a standard markup language for editing web pages. Knowing HTML allows you to further customize the text formatting beyond the options built into the editor.

Primarily, you can use the HTML source to:

  • Embed HTML email templates designed in other tools, such as Mailchimp.

  • Embed videos from YouTube or other platforms through embed codes.

  • Embed audio from platforms that offer embed code, such as Soundcloud, iVoox, or Spotify.

  • Embed presentations from tools such as Prezi, through embed codes.

2. New page

Delete all content to start over.

3. Preview

As its name suggests, the preview allows you to preview the edited content. You must keep in mind, however, that it is not a faithful representation of how it would look on your platform, since it does not appear laid out in the corresponding environment (email, article, material...).

The preview is useful to check that the formatting changes have been made correctly, that the links work and that the embedded videos look good.

4. Print

To print the created document. You can print it through the printer or convert it to PDF.

5. Templates

Allows you to add a pre-configured page structure, for example image + text, or two columns of text.

6. Paste

There are 3 paste options:

  • Paste: Paste copied content to the clipboard. It will be pasted with the same formatting as the source, i.e. it will keep the font, bold, links, etc.

  • Paste as plain text: The copied content will be pasted to the clipboard without formatting.
We recommend always using this option and shaping the text from the editor itself. This avoids that the content has a different typography from the platform and avoids design errors.

  • Paste from Word: Paste copied content to the clipboard. It will be pasted with the same format of origin.

9. Undo and redo

Undo the created text, or redo it.

Remember that if you make changes to the text, you will not be able to redo it again.

10. Find and Replace

Allows you to search for words in the text and replace them if necessary.

11. Select all

Selects all content.

12. Check spelling

Activate this option to receive spelling recommendations while editing the text.

13. Text formatting

You can set the formatting:

  • Bold

  • Italic

  • Underline

  • Strikethrough

  • Subscript

  • Superscript

14. Remove formatting

Remove the style of the selected text. This prevents the content from having a different typography from the platform and avoids design errors.

15. Numbering and bullets

Create numbered lists or bulletpoints.

16. Decrease or increase indentation

Modify the left margin of the text.

17. Citation

Highlights a text through the quotation format. It will add a slash and italicize the text.

18. Create DIV Container

A DIV container allows you to embed objects that you normally would not be able to, such as web pages.

The DIV container can misconfigure the layout and appearance of the page, so we recommend not to use this option if you are not experienced in using HTML.

19. Alignment

Aligns the text:

  • Left

  • Centered

  • Right

  • Justified

20. Text direction

You can set the text direction to go from left to right or right to left.

21. Insert/Edit or delete Link

Select a text or an image to insert a link.

The link can lead to an internal or external page, or lead to a download of a document from the server.

To do this, in the link information, select "view server". Drag a file to the server and select it. Now the text will also be a download button.

The maximum weight of the uploaded files is 50Mb.

When inserting a hyperlink, we recommend that you set the destination as a new page.

22. References

References allow you to create links in the text itself. This is very useful for creating tables of contents.

To do this, create one or more references at the points you want to link in the text.

Then select the text in the table of contents you want to link and choose the option "Link type: Reference on this page".

23. Graphics

In the text editor, you can also add graphical materials such as:

  • Images

  • Tables

  • Horizontal lines (as a separator)

  • Special characters

  • Emoticons

  • Page break

  • iFrames

24. Typography

Like any text editor, you can make changes to the typography:

  • Choosing a style (header, paragraph...)

  • Font

  • Size

  • Text color

  • Background color

25. Maximize

Allows you to make the text editor bigger, so that it is more like editing.

26. Show blocks

Shows you the different content blocks, with information about them.
